Procreate – An Artist’s Preset
Procreate is an online digital art application designed specifically for iPads. Procreate is also the same application, but it’s designed to be utilized on iPhones as well. For those unfamiliar with the term, “procreate” is short for “professional reproductive”. If you use an iPhone to take photographs, create 3D animation, or perform other functions similar to what an artist would do on a traditional computer, then this is your application.
The main screen of the Procreate pocket is divided in half, similar to a wallet. Each half contains a number of tiny dots, which represent different colors. When you drag one of these dots around, a little window will appear displaying various options. One of those choices is the color from the top right. The color can be changed by clicking on the color icon in the lower right corner of the screen. If you change your mind, simply drag again and you’ll get the color from the bottom left.
Obviously, if you were going to draw or paint with procreate, then you would not need the application in your pocket. However, the app allows you to edit, customize and save your artwork. One of the greatest things about using the procreate pocket for this purpose is that it supports the Sketchbook format. Therefore, once you save your artwork in the appropriate format, you can simply print it out from the application, or open it up in your computer.
Some of the common files app features include font selections, style sheets, document view and toolbar. Font selections are very easy to access since there are so many to choose from. You can choose from Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman and much more. Just type in the name of the font you’d like to use and select it from the font selection menu. The style sheet allows you to customize your art by selecting different color schemes. This includes a regular, italic, or bold style.
Document view lets you edit your sketches and view them on your iiphone. You can also select what size you want the document to be, either from one big view or several smaller views. toolbar enables you to open and edit various documents from your Procreate files app including text documents and PDFs. Last but not least, third-party stylus enables you to tap into the Action center, which gives you quick access to useful tools such as erasing, renaming, highlighting, and searching.
Although the procreate pocket seems simple, it offers more than just a drawing program. You are allowed to save your artwork in a variety of formats, such as JPEGs, TIFFs and even as high-resolution canvas. The size of the canvas determines the quality of the artwork so you will probably want to resize your artwork as needed. You may also choose how much additional editing you want to do to your artwork. The best thing about the Procreate program is that it synchs your artwork with your iiphone, so when you use the artwork, your original artwork appears right on your iPhone.
