Learning How to Animated on Procreate

One of the coolest features that Apple has added to their Mac computers is the ability to create animations using their free iMovie software program. To learn how to animate on Procreate, you will need to go to the Videos section and click on the link named “animate with Procreate.” Once you have done this, you will be able to find the video option in the main page of the application. To learn how to animate on Procreate, select the film option from the main menu.

Open your iMovie movie file from your Procreate 5 program. Double click on the project icon to open it. Using the arrow keys with the mouse to drag the newly created animation from the desktop onto the pre-made canvas. While dragging and dropping items, you will find that the items appear in multiple frames which are designated by a golden border. The number of individual frames can be increased by double clicking the frames.

Click the animate button to begin your digital animation on Procreate. To learn how to animate on Procreate, you need to watch the video instruction that appears above the animated frame on the top of the screen. The animated frame displays the start and end point of the film. Double click on the square in the upper left corner of the canvas to reveal the other parts of the animated sequence.

Click on the title at the bottom of the screen to open the layers palette. The layers palette displays a list of all the images that are currently saved on the computer. Double click on each image to view the animation. This step is optional, but if you want to add music or change colors during the drawing session, this is the best option. If you only want to change the drawing attributes, you can remove the images from the layer palette.

To learn how to animate on Procreate, you need to know how to use the animation assist feature of the program. This feature is located in the lower right corner of the main toolbar. If you hover your cursor over this area, you will see a wrench icon that indicates a current state of the animation. You can drag the icon to any current position in the animation. The current position can be changed by clicking and dragging the icon.

Animate on Procreate by dragging the red line across the top of the image. You can add one frame per session by dragging more than one frame. The playback controls at the top of the timeline display the positions of the individual frames in the sequence. To add music to the sequence, you might find it useful to turn on the audio track. This option is found near the lower center of the timeline display. To see the music beginning and ending, click the play icon.
