How to Animation On Procreate
For any person who has spent any time at all learning how to animate on PowerPoint, chances are that you’re somewhat familiar with the steps involved when learning how to animate on Procreate. After all, you likely spent some time trying to figure out how to drag and drop items from one view to another. Now you want to learn how to animate on Procreate, but you don’t know where to begin or what tools you need to use. Luckily, it’s not as hard as you may think. With a bit of patience and a willingness to explore, learning how to animate on Procreate is fairly simple. It may take some trial and error, but the end result will be an endless series of creative animations that can be shown off to your friends and family.
Open up the GIF file on your Procreate 5 software. If you want to create more than one image, you can simply create an add-on palette for that by clicking on the little plus sign next to your canvas in the upper right-hand corner of the program. Then click on “Movie…” and pick the type of animation you want from the pop up list. This can include a scrolling banner, a moving picture, a changing light, and many others. Each frame will play a different animation. When you find one you like, simply drag the little add-on icon from the GIF file over to where you want your animation to appear.
If your animation has many frames, your animation should start out like a still-life painting or a portrait drawing. To begin, you’ll need to hold duration for every frame. This is the length of time the image stays on the animation background. However, there’s a trick to making this transition from still-life to moving picture easy to do. By creating frames within the GIF file, your starting point is always at the exact center of the frame, regardless of how many frames are in the picture.
To do this, select the frame you want to use, then deselect it and click on the desired position on the timeline. You’ll notice a red dot in the lower-right-hand corner of your canvas. Click on it and you’ll see the exact points on the timeline where you’ll want your video to start or stop.
Finally, add a transparent background layer to the GIF image you’ve just created. Then create layers palette for each frame that you want to place transitions in. Layers palette allows you to create separate layers for every frame of your animation. Simply drag a layer over the timeline with your mouse and drag the layers palette beneath it. Layers will be added automatically as you make your way through the animation sequence.
Finally, add a finishing touch to your animation by adding a text box to your frame. Enter text in the box and drag it onto the starting frame. When finished, save your GIF file as a.PSD file.
