Procreate Pocket is iPhone App of the Month because: It makes professional artists of all levels able to sketch, paint, and sketch on the go, anywhere inspiration hits. It s not very often see such an app with the precision and functionality of Procreate Pocket. This outstanding digital art app basically opens the doors to the world of professional artists and hobbyists alike by unlocking the full potential of iPhone as an instrument for artists alone. There are no limits to your imagination when it comes to what you can do with your iPhone – and you can do it all from the comfort of your own couch.
To appreciate the true potential of Procreate, simply imagine a product with three very powerful features: It lets you sketch from your own imagination, allow you to edit and create your work of art, and allows you to make it compatible with your own high-resolution LCD screen or large, full-touch screen computer monitor. The first two are merely the beginning. You can draw, color, edit, layer, move, blend, and perform a plethora of other functions on your work using the top right menu of Procreate. But that’s not the interesting part. The interesting part is where the functionality meets expense:
You can buy and download a variety of brushes and custom brushes from a variety of suppliers. One example is the Swiper Brush, which enables you to swipe your finger across a page, creating unique brushstrokes for each image or photograph. Perhaps one of my favorite features of Procreate is the built-in camera and time-lapse video capability. The built-in camera permits you to take a short video clip of your artwork, export that same footage in a simple Windows movie file and then upload the resulting artwork onto your MySpace or Facebook page for others to enjoy. I love the fact that the Procreate app permits me to share my creative work with others, even if they do not have an iPhone or a Android device. It is a sweet bonus feature and one that I truly appreciate.
As you can see from the above examples, there are numerous ways to enhance your photography and create unique artwork with the Procreate pocket and its collection of brushes and custom brushes. In addition to the standard black and white photos that you can upload, you can also import a color image (if you do not have one of these images on your computer) and then enhance it using the slider controls on the screen. You can also select the hue control which controls the intensity and brightness of the colors you are able to add to your image. If you want to remove some of the color from the image, you simply touch on the color overlay button next to the color swatches. If you would like to change the background color of your photo, simply slide the mouse over and select the color overlay option. In order to change the background color of your artwork, just click on the appropriate color swatch and then select the desired background color from the slider control.
The final aspect of this application that I must discuss is the neat functionality provided by the double tap to focus and the long-swipe to tap the image overlay button. In addition to being able to easily switch between photos and images, you will appreciate the handy ability to resize and edit each image independently with the tap of your fingers. This allows you to fit your photos into your layout seamlessly using only a swipe of the finger and it takes just a few seconds to do.
